was habit forming. Soon I started treating all my clients
as if they were from a tight-knit referral group, and this
became a self-fulfilling prophesy. Clients who had only been
introduced to me through my employer began recommending
me to others, and their referrals gave more
referrals. It was becoming apparent that I may be able to
earn a living working this expanding network.
Federal Fidelity Mortgage began as a way I could cut out
extraneous overhead and give my clients a better
deal than
they could find anywhere else, while still being able to
make a decent living myself. Ironically, now that I was
really able to take care of my clients, life became busy.
The worst thing for any business is to turn clients away,
so I began hiring loan officers who I could trust to handle
my own personal referrals. This meant I was looking for
mortgage professionals who would be honest, up-front, and,
most importantly, would operate with the client’s
